The people in your church are already prepared for this.
In every congregation there are people who carry a quiet calling toward justice and restoration. Harvest helps you find those people and gives them something real to do.
Churches that fit the Harvest model tend to look like this.
You do not need a formal prison ministry or a social services background. You need a pastor who can identify the right people in your congregation and a community willing to commit to one person for the long haul.
Small to mid-size churches
Churches under 300 regular attenders tend to be the best fit. Large enough to form a dedicated team around one candidate. Small enough that mission feels personal and the pastor has real decision-making authority without multiple committee layers.
A gifts-releasing culture
Harvest looks for churches where members are actively encouraged to discover and use their individual gifts. This is the culture that produces the kind of people who will thrive in sustained, relational work.
A pastor who leads with conviction
The churches that commit are led by pastors who are decisive and compassionate — who recognise a good fit and are willing to say yes when it matters. If this resonates with you personally, that is significant information.
A heart for the overlooked
This does not require prior corrections experience. It requires a genuine conviction that people deserve a second chance, and that the local church is the best place to offer it. If that's already part of your culture, let's talk!
Three things Harvest asks of every partner church.
The commitment is specific and sustained. That is what makes it different from every short-term volunteer program your church has tried before.
Complete the training
Harvest provides comprehensive training for your church team before any placement is made. Your team will understand the realities of reintegration, how to build trust, what to expect, and how Harvest will support you. No one goes in unprepared.
Designate a team
You will identify and commit a small group of three to five people from within your congregation to walk alongside your candidate. This is the work of members who carry a genuine calling for this kind of relationship, not a staff program.
Stay the course
Your church commits to a sustained relationship with your candidate. Not a program. Not a drop-in. A real, ongoing connection that Harvest supports throughout. The depth of this commitment is what separates Harvest's outcomes from every other approach.
You are never in this alone.
Every partner church has the full weight of Harvest's experience, curriculum, and ongoing support from day one.
Full training curriculum
Harvest's proprietary training program prepares your team for everything they will encounter. Built from seven years of direct experience in church-based reintegration.
Candidate vetting and matching
Harvest handles the full intake and assessment process. You receive a candidate who has been carefully vetted, prepared, and matched to your specific community.
Ongoing coaching and support
Harvest stays involved after placement. Your team has direct access to support when questions arise, when things get difficult, and when they need someone who has seen this before.
Network connection
Partner churches are connected to Harvest's broader network for shared learning, encouragement, and peer support from other churches doing the same work.
Outcomes reporting
Harvest provides regular reporting so your church can see the documented impact of what you are doing. This matters for your congregation, your donors, and your own accountability.
A partner for the long haul
Harvest's relationship with your church does not end at placement. We are committed to the same sustained presence we ask you to provide your candidate.
What the partnership costs, and what it covers.
The $6,000 partnership investment covers everything Harvest provides to your church team from first conversation through placement and beyond. It is not a fee for a service. It is the cost of a transformation.
Against an incarceration cost of $181,500 per year in Alberta, the math is straightforward. A permanently equipped church team and one life substantively changed represents an extraordinary return.
If the $6,000 is a barrier for your church, speak with us. Donor partnerships are available that can cover part or all of a church's investment for the right fit.
Tell us about your church.
This is not an application in the formal sense. It is the beginning of a conversation. Fill in what you can, and someone from Harvest will be in touch within a few days.
